1. What is Laser Week? Why should I attend?

Laser week is your introduction to academic and campus life at IVC. The three-day program provides new students the chance to meet faculty in their major, connect with their peers and prepare for success during their academic journey at IVC. Don’t miss it!

2. Who should attend Laser Week?

All new students who are starting at IVC for the first time this fall semester. You must be admitted to IVC and have a valid student ID in order to register for Laser Week. Not sure if you have a student ID? Contact Admissions at 949-451-5220 or email

3. How do I sign up for Laser Week?

You will need your IVC student ID number ready in order to register. Once you are ready, click on this RSVP link. Login using your student ID and birthday. Then select “Make Appointment”, and find your IVC school*. (*Not sure what school your major falls under? See Question 11 below). Then search for “All” days of the week. Check each day you are available to attend (All three days are recommended). Finally, you will enter your contact information and submit!

There is no cost for students to attend Laser Week.

4. What is the schedule?

Laser Week is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15, Thursday, August 16 and Friday, August 17, from 8:30a.m. – 3:30p.m. See the full schedule of events​.

5. Where should I park? Do I need to pay for parking?

Complimentary parking is available in Lot 5 only. You may park in any spot not marked as "Staff" or "30 Minute Parking." 

Note: if you decide to park in another lot on campus, you will need to purchase a parking pass for $5 at one of the permit dispensers marked on the Campus  Map. Please park in Lot 5 to avoid any parking charges or tickets.

6. Where is check-in?

Attendees will check-in at the Live Oak Terrace, located just behind the Performing Arts Center. Signs near Lot 5 will direct attendees where to go. You can also find the location on the Campus Map.

7. What do I need to bring with me to Laser Week?

Bring yourself, your Laser pride and excitement for your future at IVC! We will provide all the necessary materials for your day, including a light breakfast and lunch.

8. Is breakfast or lunch provided?

Yes, both breakfast and lunch are provided each day of Laser Week. If you have any dietary restrictions or questions, please notify Admissions at 949-451-5220 or email

9. Do I really need to come for all three days of Laser Week?  

We strongly recommend students make every effort to plan to attend all three days of Laser Week. The program has a different focus each day, and the schedule builds on the previous day’s program. There are no repeat sessions. However, we understand that your schedule may not allow for attendance during all three days, so please register even if you are only able to attend one or two days.

10. My parents/family members want to come with me to Laser Week – are they invited?

Parents, guardians and family members are invited to attend on Friday, August 17. A family member track is provided for them which includes workshops on financial aid, developing academic skills and supporting students in their new college routine.

11. How  do I know what IVC school I belong to?

Please search for your major using the cheat sheet below. Each heading includes the name of the school your major belongs to! If you are unsure of your major, please choose the school(s) that sound most interesting to you.
